Be encouraged, friends. Jesus desires our heart to not be troubled...He gives us His peace...He understands our struggle and wants us to come to Him.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me." (John 14:1)

March 23, 2020

We discuss the following verses ...

“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

‭‭Philippians ‭4:11-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬

March 19, 2020

We enjoyed Etta Gibson's thoughts on reading Philippians 4:6 'backwards' a few weeks ago. I think it is applicable now! Let us:

1.Thank God

2.Tell Him what we need

3.Pray about everything

4.Don't be anxious

Look at Philippians 4:8 too...in the midst of stress right now, we need to ask God to help us to fix our eyes on truth/good/noble things.

"This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." (I John 1:5)

Betsy discusses how we can start to trust God during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Be Courageous...BECAUSE God is with you!

February 2018

We often hear quotes from the Bible to "Be Strong and Courageous."

1) What does that really mean?  Things we face in life ARE scary sometimes.  Things are "bigger" than we feel we can handle, and we do have fear.  The definition of Courage is to walk forward in the face of fear.  Having courage doesn't mean that fear doesn't exist; it means to move forward and believe God will help us face that fear.

2)  I just mentioned, "believing God will help us face our fears."   In the Bible, God repeats MANY times that we can only walk forward with Courage BECAUSE HE IS WITH US.  We CAN'T do it on our own...but WITH GOD, anything is possible!  Check out these verses below, and see how GOD REPEATS HOW HE WILL BE WITH US:

Deuteronomy 31:6-8 -- " So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”  Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all Israel watched, he said to him, “Be strong and courageous! For you will lead these people into the land that the LORD swore to their ancestors he would give them. You are the one who will divide it among them as their grants of land. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Deuteronomy 31:23 -- Then the LORD commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and courageous, for you must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”

Joshua 1:5-9 -- "No  one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.   Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

You Are Loved (Valentine's Day Theme Classes)

February 13, 2018

When you believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, these things are true of you:

God is patient with you

God is kind to you

God is not rude to you

God is not irritated with you

God is not angry with you

God keeps no record of your wrongs

God wants to guard you from injustice

God wants truth to win and change your life

God doesn’t give up on you

God protects you

God will endure in relationship with you through every circumstance

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (I Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT)

You Are Loved (Valentine's Day Theme Classes)

February 12, 2018

~The word LOVE in the Bible comes from the Greek word AGAPE. AGAPE LOVE is acting in the beneficent interest of another person, without regard to oneself. To summarize, AGAPE LOVE IS SELFLESS.

~GOD IS THE CREATOR OF AGAPE LOVE, and  I John 4:8 says “God is LOVE” or “God is AGAPE.” God is selfless toward us, and He desires the best for us.

~Believing in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord means you believe He died to pay the penalty for your sins and that He rose from the dead to offer you eternal life.

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (I John 4:9-10 NLT)

Paraphrase of I John 4:9-10: “God showed how much he IS SELFLESS TOWARDS us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is SELFLESSNESS—not that we WERE SELFLESS TOWARDS God, but that he IS SELFLESS TOWARDS us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

Say "Shut Up" to those Negative thoughts...

January 2018

Wow!  This sentiment hits home with me (BetsyD).  We are a community all about encouraging each other to live out of our strengths, and to believe what Jesus says is true about us from the Bible.  So, feel free to tell the negative committee in your mind to "sit down and shut up!"

Fix your thoughts on good truth!

January 2018

Philippians 4:9 (NLT) "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE TRUE THOUGHTS WE CAN THINK ABOUT, TO COMBAT THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS?

~I am chosen. (I Peter 2:4)

~I am a new creation. (2 Cor. 5:17)

~I am accepted. (Ephesians 1:6)

And there are MANY MORE.  We'll try to post more of these soon!

Prayer of Release

Sept. 12, 2017

Hi Friends! This picture is of a prayer that I shared in classes in August, during "Circle Talk." It hit us hard in a good way! It is written by Roy Lessin.

Do you resonate with this? What do you need to RELEASE to Jesus?

We are here to pray WITH you too!
